eKIDna
eKIDna titles are illustrated stories for children 4-12 years. They are available for download as .swf files or as .tk3 files. The first requires installation of the free Macromedia Flash Player (which many readers may already have on their PCs). Tk3 books are enhanced multi-media e-books, readable with the NightKitchen tk3 reader, also available free. The latter format is particularly suitable for children's books. Both readers may be downloaded from the Jacobyte eKIDna catalogue site.

The eKIDna catalogue can be accessed at: http://www.jacobytebooks.com/ekidna.htm

Schoolteachers in particular should look at the home eKIDna site www.eKidna.net for further information.

StoryPlus Botswana Pula? Indeed. In fact at this e-bookshop they quote their prices in almost every known currency. Founded by Jean Chalopin, creator of 'Inspector Gadget,' this international site allows you to locate a suitable e-book by age group, author, title, genre or particular interest. Prices are cheap, too, with some free titles also featured.

Books are available in four formats: Text Only, Illustrated Text, Animated Version with Illustrated Text, and Audio version with Illustrated Text.

The first two require an Adobe reader (Adobe Acrobat or Adobe e-Book Reader). The third one is in Flash format (needs Macromedia Flash), while the audio versions want MP3 capability as well as Adobe (NB: all software can be downloaded free from the site). And for coolness that will delight the child in even the oldest adult, watch the stardust follow your cursor.
