Buy e-Books

Format notes:

Unencrypted HTML versions of books can be read on your desktop PC or laptop in any web browser. They may also be downloaded to many devices, e.g. the Rocket eBook, various Palm OS devices, the Franklin eBookman and others. You should follow the directions that came with your device.

Microsoft Reader e-books (.lit) require installation of the MS Reader . They may be read on PCs & laptops, Windows CE devices & Pocket PCs.( Note that first generation Pocket PCs do not support MS Reader version 2 however).

PDF e-books may be read with either the Adobe Acrobat Reader or the Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader (formerly known as the Glassbook Reader). They may have been prepared with either more in mind, so for best results it is better to use the one recommended where you buy the book. The eBook Reader will give you a superior reading experience compared to the Acrobat Reader provided books have been prepared for it.

The multi-format e-book reader Mobipocket can be installed on Palm OS, Franklin eBookman, Pocket PC, Windows CE & some Psion devices. It is designed particularly for handheld devices (however there is also a version for PCs). The formats Mobipocket will read are .doc, OEB, .prc, .txt, & HTML.. Note that It will not read e-books formatted as PDFs or for MS Reader.

Zipped files are files that have been compressd or "zipped" for speedier download. To read them you need to decompress or "unzip" them with special software. Examples of such software are Winzip, PKZip & PowerArchiver. You can get shareware versions of these free for evaluation, or purchase them for permanent use. OR save your money & get the fully free program called Stuffit Expander*, available from: http://www.aladdinsys.com/expander

*NB: Stuffit Expander will unzip zipped files, but cannot be used as a file compressor (zipper).
