                    1. Why advertise on this site?

·  More than eight million people have viewed this website since its inception. Our Freebooks section has in recent years received spectacular ratings in Google (and now also Bing) - for a number of important search terms relating to e-books.

· Our world-wide audience is truly international in nature. Specifically, our visitor profile has strong representation from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North America and Australia, and beyond that receives traffic from virtually every location on the planet (some 227 countries & national entities at last count). So, our new policy of accepting individual advertisements is therefore an unprecedented opportunity for companies and individuals alike to gain global exposure for their digital books, electronic book products & software, and services.

The most popular individual countries of visitor origin were in order the USA, India, Australia, the UK; followed by Canada, Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia, Brazil, the Philippines, Germany, Romania, China, Spain and Italy.

 

 

2. Who can Advertise?

· We accept advertisements relevant to the themes of this website. In general, an ad would relate to one (or more) of the following:
e-books, e-publishing, e-reader devices, e-book software, print-on-demand, electronic book information/news/blogs, or any other digital literature-related products or services. Some other ads may be considered on an individual basis.

Exclusions: Ads promoting illegal behaviour, violence, terrorism, visual pornography, ethnic/ sexual/ religious hatred, online gambling or the violation of copyright, or any other material deemed offensive or unacceptable in the absolute discretion of the website owner, will be refused. All advertisements will be reviewed prior to acceptance. However, if an ad is found to be offensive or otherwise unacceptable subsequent to uploading, or is removed for legal or any other reasons, a refund of fees paid will be made on a pro rata basis, or a full refund if withdrawn within seven days of first appearance.

 

3. What size and type of advertisements are possible? Will you prepare them for me?

· Standard ads: A standard ad can include up to thirty words of text, with hyperlinks as requested. Bolding, italics or underlining of text may be specified if desired. A small image or logo may be added for no extra charge (the latter can also be hyperlinked if desired). The maximum image size for a corporate standard ad image = 12kb; or for an author ad = 6kb. For corporate ads only, animated gifs of up to four rotations are also acceptable (however, no sound or Flash files).

Approved ads can be sent either as plain text for us to format for you, or as a preformatted image. If pre-formatted, the text/image should be a maximum width of either 120 pixels (LHS) or 180 pixels (RHS) wide. Otherwise, we can reformat text or resize images for you.
NB: Images or text-as-image should ordinarily be in either .gif or jpeg format. BMPs are never acceptable.

· Large Ads: These can include up to sixty words of text, and a larger image (up to the size of the text).

4. How much does it cost?

a) Corporate Ads

For a standard advertisement, the international rate is US$199 per quarter from the date of first appearance, or US$349 for six months, or US$599 per annum (full year). For large ads, US$399, US$699, or US$1,199 on the same basis.

However, Australian-domiciled companies (where either the relevant website is a dotcom.au site, or the company is headquartered in Australia) qualify for a preferential rate, viz. the same $ amounts in AUD rather than USD if the $A is below parity with the $US. Where the value of the $A exceeds that of the $US, the fee payable will be the $US rate minus ten per cent.

b) Author Ads

Individual authors (not publishers) may apply for standard ads for their new or existing book titles, or for their personal authorial websites. The charges for an authorial standard ad are as follows:

US$50 for one month. ( = minimum period)
US$99 for one quarter annum (three months from date of appearance).
US$175 for six months.
US$299 for twelve months.
Please choose carefully and within your budget, as no refunds will be made.

Australian authors (defined as Australian permanent residents who are currently living in Australia, &/or whose advertised book was written in Australia) qualify for a preferential rate, viz. the same $ amounts in AUD rather than USD if the $A is below parity with the $US; or where the value of the $A exceeds that of the $US the fee payable will be the $US rate minus ten per cent.

 

5. How do I submit my ad?


First, check that it is site relevant (see Point 2 above); fits within specifications given ( Point 3 above); and is not liable for exclusion (also Point 3 above). Then email us (click here to email) with your request and proposed text. NB: Please send the text only to begin with, do not send any image files at this point.
We will notify you by email as to whether we approve your ad (we may also suggest alterations to improve it). If the ad is approved, we will then also ask you to submit any images or logos to be included, or any image file versions of your text if you wish to prepare them yourself.

 

6. How can I pay for my ad?

Corporate Ads

The preferred method of payment is by direct deposit to our business account, with alternatives of Paypal, $A or $US cheques (USA =checks), or international money orders. Payment destination details will be supplied with emailed approval of your ad once submitted. Please allow time for your payment to be cleared; your ad will then usually appear within a maximum of 10 days. In any event, the display period of the advertisement will only date from the day the ad first appears, not from when payment is made. Email us (click here) if you require further information.

Author Ads

Physical payment: by $US or $A cheque ((USA =check), or international money order. The payment address will be supplied by email with approval of your submitted ad.

Electronic payment: Paypal. (We will send you a Paypal email payment request if you choose this method, once your ad has been approved).If you do not have a Paypal account, you can still pay via Paypal using your Visa or Mastercard credit card.

NB: Please allow for your payment to be cleared; then your ad will usually appear within 10 days. In any event, the term of the ad will only date from the day the ad first appears, not from when payment is made. Email us here (click here) if you require further information.
